Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Pickt (“Pickt”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Scinops, Something. Scinops is the controller of the personal data described here. This policy explains what we collect when you use pickt.one, why, and what choices you have. Contact: info@scinops.com.
1. The short version
- You can use Pickt without an account.
- Your individual answers are never shown to other people. Only what the group agreed on is revealed.
- Pickt is free and funded by advertising. Ads and usage measurement are provided by Google and may use cookies, with your consent where the law requires it.
- We do not sell your personal data.
2. What we collect
Content you provide. The question, context and options of a pick you create, including any links and image addresses; the first name you type when creating or joining a pick; and the text of any report you send us.
Your answers. Your Pick, Maybe or Pass on each option. We store these to work out the result. They are not shown to other participants or to the creator, and they are not included in our analytics.
Account data (optional). If you choose to sign in, your email address and a record of which picks belong to you, so they can appear on your other devices.
Usage data. Events such as pages opened, buttons tapped, how an answer was given (tap or drag), time spent on a card, how an invite was shared, and whether an ad slot was displayed. These are linked to a random identifier stored in your browser, not to your name or email.
Technical data. Your IP address and browser details are processed when you connect. For abuse prevention we keep only a one-way scrambled form of the IP address, which we cannot turn back into the original.
Data stored on your device. Small entries in your browser’s local storage that let you return to a pick (one key per pick), your first name, and the random identifier mentioned above. If you sign in, we set one session cookie. Google may set its own cookies as described in section 5.
3. Why we use it and our legal bases
- To run the service (create picks, record answers, compute results, sign you in, sync your picks): performance of our agreement with you.
- To keep Pickt safe (rate limiting, handling reports, removing abusive content): our legitimate interest in a secure service.
- To understand and improve Pickt (our own aggregated usage statistics): our legitimate interest in improving the product.
- Google Analytics and advertising cookies: your consent, where required by law. You can withdraw it at any time through the consent message or your browser settings.
- To comply with the law: legal obligation.
4. Who can see a pick
Anyone who has the link to a pick can open it, see its question and options, see the first names of people who joined and whether they have finished, and take part. Results show only the options the group agreed on and, for groups, how many people chose an option. Please do not put sensitive or confidential information in a pick.
5. Service providers and third parties
We share data only with providers that help us run Pickt, each acting on our instructions or as described below:
- Hosting: our server and database provider stores all Pickt data.
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC): receives usage events and page paths so we can measure how Pickt is used. We remove pick identifiers from page paths and do not send names, questions, options or answers.
- Google AdSense: shows advertisements on the waiting and results screens. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver, personalise and measure ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
- Anthropic: if you tap “Suggest options”, the question, context and options you have typed are sent to Anthropic’s AI service to generate suggestions.
- Resend: delivers sign-in emails if you choose to sign in, and so receives your email address.
- Websites you link to: when you paste a link into an option, our server requests that page to read its title and picture. The site sees a request from our server, not from you.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Pickt, its users or others. If Pickt is transferred to another owner, your data may be transferred with it under this policy.
6. International transfers
Some providers, including Google and Anthropic, process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
7. How long we keep data
- Picks and answers: a pick stops being accessible 30 days after it is created and is deleted from our systems afterwards.
- Account data: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Sign-in links: 30 minutes. Sessions: 90 days.
- Usage events: up to 24 months in aggregate-friendly form. Rate-limit records: up to 24 hours.
- Reports: as long as needed to handle them and document our decision.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, or to have a specific pick removed, write to info@scinops.com. Because Pickt works without accounts, we may ask for the pick link or your sign-in email so we can find your data. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
Pickt is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use encrypted connections, random unguessable links and access tokens, and limit who can access our systems. No online service can guarantee absolute security; please use Pickt for everyday decisions, not for secrets.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant we will make it visible on the site.
